About Defensa

Defensa was born for a single reason, to develop ahletes to get to the elite level.  Some talk a good game, but talk does not translate into results.  Athletes need to be pushed, worked, developed, then pushed more.  This mind set typically leads to a lot of sweat, bruises and for most, fun times.

While some may argue that winning is not everything, it is the point of competitive sports. There must be a winner, but how the team wins is just as important at the youth division as actually winning.  It matters little if your youth team wins everything but then you do not get on a varsity team.  You will never hear the coaches of Defensa telling the athletes to play it safe when the game is on the line!  Learning to win comes with a price and winning at the youth level is not as important as winning at the Collegiate level and beyond.  Athletes will focus on development of skills, team concepts, the dedication to work with the right mind set, the right attitude and at 100% every practice, tournament and point!

Coaches at Defensa…  The intensity level of practice should be dictated not by the coach, but by athletes doing the drills the coach has planned.  The more a coach talks, the less the athletes works, so we plan to talk as little as possible unless needed.  The point of practice is to work, so plans are made to push the athletes to work hard all the time.
